What is the SHOP protocol? A neutral explanation

How SHOP links real payment activity to a blockchain ecosystem, how the token is generated – and which risks you should understand.

The idea in one sentence

SHOP is a blockchain-based protocol that aims to connect real payment activity with a digital ecosystem: according to its published model, a part of the fees generated by card payments can flow into the SHOP ecosystem, creating demand for the SHOP token.

Novaro explains SHOP as one example of a new business model around payment infrastructure. Novaro is independent from SHOP, does not issue the token and does not control the protocol.

How the flow is described

The model has four steps. First, a cardholder pays as usual. Second, the payment infrastructure generates fees in the background. Third, a share of those fees can flow into the SHOP ecosystem. Fourth, this inflow is meant to create continuous demand for the SHOP token. Whether and how much actually flows depends on the protocol's rules and on the volume of payments connected to it.

Token generation and minters

The protocol generates SHOP tokens according to its rules. Devices or contracts referred to as minters take part in this generation. The Novaro membership currently includes a 1/12 share of a GSM100 Minter, whose generated tokens – according to the offer – are paid out daily to the member's wallet, at a rate described as up to 1 % per month.

Two things are important here. "Up to" means the rate can be lower or zero. And the payout is made by the protocol under its rules, not by Novaro, which does not guarantee it.

Risks you should understand

Tokens are volatile: their price can fall sharply or go to zero, and a rising chart – like the 2026 development shown on the Novaro homepage – says nothing about the future. Protocols can change their rules, suffer technical failures or lose the payment volume they depend on. Regulation of digital assets is evolving and differs by country.

Only use money you can afford to lose entirely, keep your own keys safe and never let anyone pressure you into a decision. If you cannot explain to a friend how SHOP is supposed to work, you are not ready to put money into it – attend a webinar and ask until you can.

Where to verify

The protocol's own documentation is published at shop-token.io. Novaro's webinars walk through the model step by step and answer questions live. Compare both, and do not rely on a single source.
